Julia Gordon recently completed a term of service as the Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a position for which she was nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. At HUD, she ran the Office of Housing, which includes the Federal Housing Administration’s $1.5 trillion portfolio of mortgage insurance on single family, multifamily, and healthcare facility loans, as well as HUD’s housing counseling programs, project-based rental assistance program, and manufactured housing building and construction code.

 

Prior to HUD, Julia served as the president of the National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST), a nonprofit organization that supports neighborhood revitalization and affordable homeownership. She also has served as the senior director of housing and consumer finance at the Center for American Progress, manager of the single-family policy team at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and senior policy counsel at the Center for Responsible Lending.
