Once the Greenhouse Capital of the World, Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood has established itself as an amazing place for both residents and businesses to come and grow within our community. Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation’s middle neighborhood strategy places an emphasis on community health, including strong public transit, education opportunities, safe and affordable housing, and other community initiatives to ensure the wellness of the neighborhood and all of its residents.

Some of the amazing accomplishments of Old Brooklyn in include:

 

  • 2018 Health in Action Summit. Partnered with Baldwin Wallace University’s Department of Public health and Prevention Sciences, the CDC hosted a two-day summit to learn, share, and discover how community groups, health care, government, and research can unite and form a future that is healthy and equitable for all.
  • Ongoing Old Brooklyn Farmers Market. The Farmers Market has been an ongoing opportunity to bring fresh, local produce into the community. The Market has continuously expanded every year to offer more opportunities and programming for the community to enjoy, including live music, cooking demonstrations, fitness activities, and more.
  • Year-Round Community-Oriented Programming. Old Brooklyn supports community-oriented programming all year-round. This includes Smorgasbord Street Festival, Cleveland Summer Cinema, Crooked River Exploration Camp, Pedal for Prizes, Falloween, Cookies & Cocoa with Santa, Yearly Christmas Lighting Contest, Home Buyer/Repair Workshops, and much more!
  • 2018 Cleveland Chain Reaction. Old Brooklyn was officially chosen in 2018 as the Cleveland Chain Reaction neighborhood. The project is set to bring over $1 Million of investments into the neighborhood by supporting local businesses and bringing new ones into the community.
