Detroit MI – Central Detroit Christian Community Development (CDCCD)

Renovated kitchen with light wood cabinetes

Central Detroit Christian Community Development (CDCCD) acquired this Detroit home through NCST’s Enhanced Offer program. It has now been leased to a family in need of an affordable rental opportunity. CDCCD spent more than $10,000 to rehab this 823 square foot single-family home, built in 1946, with three bedrooms and one bathroom.

Today the neighborhood is a 50/50 mix of renters/owners, and there are plenty of nearby amenities such as schools, shopping, restaurants, and three parks with bike paths.

Renovations include all walls and ceilings repaired, primed and freshly painted, hardwood floors refinished, new carpeting installed, new kitchen cabinets, countertops, and ceramic tile backsplash and flooring installed, light fixtures replaced, and new toilet, vanity sink, plumbing fixtures, new shower wall, lighting and vinyl flooring added in bathroom. In addition, new plumbing, a new furnace and a new hot water tank were installed.

The garage was burned out and had become a safety hazard, so it was removed. The side porch foundation had sunk and the porch was actually breaking away from the house presenting another safety hazard, so it was also removed, and the ground was regraded to the proper level.
