Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County spent more than $30,000 rehabbing this end-unit in a small townhouse community. Improvements made include a new HVAC system, new hot water heater, new windows throughout, new exterior doors, new flooring throughout, interior doors either replaced or refinished, fresh paint applied throughout (included removal of wood paneling in living room), new drywall in most of first floor; new insulation installed in exposed walls, new wall built to return secondary bedrooms to two separate rooms, new kitchen appliances, including a refrigerator and stove.

The new owner-occupant, who earns less than 80% AMI, received homebuyer counseling. He was renting a tiny, two-bedroom apartment for his four sons and himself. While he had a bed for his youngest son he had no place to put it. So the 6-year-old slept on a small, foldable, cushion chair. The family couldn’t sit down to dinner together because there wasn’t enough space in the kitchen. There was also no outdoor space for the boys to use.

Now the family’s new home provides ample space for the family. The owner was able to purchase a large dining room table which can accommodate family and friends. The boys have an enclosed yard in which to play and a safe neighborhood to ride their bikes.
