Dear NCST Community Partners,
Today, the Senate voted to pass the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a bipartisan housing package that reflects years of work by lawmakers, stakeholders, and advocates to address the nation’s housing affordability and homeownership challenges.
We commend Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott, Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren, House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill, and Ranking Member Maxine Waters for working across party lines to advance comprehensive housing legislation at a time when housing costs remain one of the greatest financial challenges facing American families.
“The Senate’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act marks an important step toward expanding housing opportunity and strengthening pathways to homeownership,” said Chris Tyson, President of NCST. “We are encouraged to see many of the priorities championed by the homeownership community reflected in this legislation, including provisions that will help increase housing supply, modernize key housing programs, and expand access to sustainable homeownership opportunities. This progress is the result of years of engagement by advocates, industry leaders, and policymakers working together to advance practical solutions that can make a real difference for households and communities across the country.”
We appreciate the leadership that made this legislation possible and look forward to continuing our work with policymakers and partners to help ensure these reforms create greater housing opportunity for current and future homeowners.”
